Blizzard’s anti-spam additions that they added have caused World of Warcraft / WoW gold selling spammers to change their tactics. Anyway, it hasn’t stopped their activity – unfortunately these nice guys are continuing spamming the World of Warcraft / WoW Community with says, raid invites and messages over general chat channels since they can no longer do that stuff in whispers.
A gamer observed an interesting thing: # “As gold seller started spamming, I noticed that instead of stating the full name of the site, they’re wanting you to visit, for example http://www.a*******.com/. b*******.com? A little bit later in the message, the spammer explains that the ******* stands a word, which then does turn it into a domain name which is valid.
Why are they doing these crazy things? So, although Blizzard does not give an official comment, I have to think that there are doing certain measures against spammers who are using the full domain name. Are they flagging people using known gold-selling domains in chat for further investigation? Since there is no official statement from Blizzard, we can’t say for certain. But until we haven’t heard anything, there’s a pretty big room for speculation.”
